What is the difference between Montage™ and Medley™ panels?

Montage™ panels are fabric-wrapped acoustic panels made with a Basotect G+ melamine foam core and feature a self-adhesive backing for quick and easy installation. In contrast, Medley™ panels use a glass wool core with a fabric finish but do not include a self-adhesive backing, requiring alternative fixings.

What’s the difference between Basotect G+ (melamine foam) and Glass Wool Core?

• Basotect G+ (Melamine Foam): This lightweight, open-cell foam is renowned for its excellent sound absorption and fire resistance. It is non-fibrous, does not shed particles, and offers a cleaner finish, making it ideal for environments where air quality and low maintenance are priorities. The self-adhesive backing on Montage™ panels also makes installation simpler and provides a secure bond.
• Glass Wool Core: Glass wool is a dense, fibrous material known for its high sound absorption and good thermal insulation properties. It is typically heavier than melamine foam and requires additional fixings for secure installation. While it offers excellent acoustic performance, glass wool may release fibres when cut or handled, so it requires more care during installation.

• Montage™ (Melamine Foam Core): Basotect G+ provides excellent absorption of mid to high frequencies, making it well-suited for controlling reverberation and reducing echo in speech-heavy environments like offices, meeting rooms, and classrooms.
• Medley™ (Glass Wool Core): Glass wool offers broader frequency absorption, particularly effective in environments with a wide range of noise sources. However, there are limitations regarding shape and maximum size due to weight and panel dimensions. The largest panel size available is 2500mm x 1200mm with a thickness of up to 300mm. Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.

However, they are not specifically designed for soundproofing against external noise, like loud neighbours. If you’re dealing with noise from next door, you may need additional soundproofing solutions, such as wall insulation or barrier panels, to block the sound effectively.

Montage™ EasyFix is our most straightforward acoustic system to install. To begin, peel off the backing sheet to reveal the self-adhesive layer, align the panel on the wall, and press firmly to secure it. For freshly painted or dusty, unclean walls, it's advisable to prime the surface with a contact adhesive for a more reliable bond. On clean, uncontaminated walls, you may opt to use a light layer of wallpaper paste for added flexibility, allowing small adjustments during positioning to achieve the ideal alignment. If you’re affixing the panel to the ceiling, always apply a contact adhesive to prime the ceiling first, ensuring a secure and lasting installation.

The EasyFix panel is intended as a permanent installation; once positioned and the adhesive has set, it cannot be repositioned.

If you’d prefer a removable option, please send us a message and we will provide a quotation offline. You can install this product without self adhesive using 4 stick pins per panel, available in the fixings section on this page. Should you wish to make the installation permanent later on, you can secure the panel to the wall with either a contact adhesive or TACFIX tube adhesive.

Yes, Montage™ EasyFix core board has been tested and meets DIN ISO 13501-1: 2010 with a C - S2, D0 fire rating. Additionally, a Class O fire rating to BS476: Part 6 and 7 is available upon request, as well as compliance with BS 6853 Annex D.8.4 and BS 6853 Annex B2. The fabric facing complies with: Sonus EN13501-1 Class B, s1, d0, and Cara Class 1 to BS476: Part 7 and EN13501-1 Class B, s1, d0.

Your delivery will arrive carefully packaged and secured, transported on a vehicle suitable for the size and weight of the shipment. Typically, the panels are unloaded by hand unless a specific vehicle type has been requested.

Please note: if the order volume is large, the products will be shipped on a pallet. This pallet is non-returnable, and you will need to arrange for curb side unloading. In some cases, a tail lift may not be available, so please plan accordingly. If you have any special requirements at your site or premises, let us know when placing your order so we can discuss the best options.

The standard delivery time is 10-12 working days (around 2 weeks). Since each fabric-wrapped product is handcrafted, we can't provide a rapid Amazon-like service.
